Hydration

Posted on Dec 7th, 2007 by Beagle : Questionizer Beagle
Today I left the house to work at a school and just barely got a banana a cup of coffee to go before I left.  I admit I took the time to read a book to my children this morning, but it meant I was rushing to be on time.

I polished off the coffee soon enough and soon realized I had not remembered my water bottle.  Not that water was not available, but I had no easy vessel in which to store it.  I know that if I do not just bring a water bottle with me on such occasions I never get around to drinking.  That is what happened today.

If I have a water bottle, I will sip from it and refill it when it is empty.  I can easily drink a couple quarts, or more, in a work day.  But today all I had was coffee and a couple of clementines for several hours.  When I got home I drank a lot.

I have a glass of water going now.  I need to make sure I drink enough water before I head to bed because if I do not my contact lenses dry out.  On a recent night I was tripping in the dark because I could not keep my dry eyes open.  Water helps.

Back when I was running all the time I drank gallons.  No joke, I drank a gallon a day easy.  I don't stay as hydrated these days, even though I should.  Water is good stuff.  Maybe bumping up the running miles will stir me to drink more.

Why should you care about this?  You certainly don't need to care about it.  But you should stay hydrated.  Most people don't drink enough water.  Coffee, a diuretic, doesn't count.  I drink plenty of that these days.  If I drink more water, maybe I will flush out more toxins.  Who wants to be full of toxins?
